Our History
Raga Designs was founded by the eponymous designer Neeru Kumar in 1986. Neeru Kumar’s journey began with a deep love for traditional Indian textiles and a desire to preserve their beauty and craftsmanship. She is a rare and inspired talent, who has, over the past two decades, pioneered something of a revolution in Indian textiles. Using traditional techniques and indigenous materials, but with constant experimentation and research, Neeru has created a whole new vocabulary in textile design. Her work is often described as a ‘contemporary classic’.
Neeru Kumar’s design vision gained global recognition and her work was showcased in major textile exhibitions and fashion shows around the world. Over the years, the business has expanded to include a wide range of products, including home furnishings, accessories, and clothing.
The products adorn the shelves of leading stores and brands in Japan, UK, USA, Europe , South Africa, Australia, South America, the Middle East and East Asia.
The company has always had a strong commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. Sourcing materials from local artisans and utilizing eco-friendly production methods, empowering artisans and providing employment opportunities has been a point significance to us.
